Benchen Karma Kamtsang Association
Benchen Karma Kamtsang Buddhist Association belongs to the Karma Kamtsang tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, represented by His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Ogyen Trinle Dorje.
Our Association operates directly under the guidance of Benchen Monastery in Kathmandu headed by His Eminence Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche and Venerable Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche. We are recognised by the Polish law and have the legal status of a church. We focus on the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism and provide conditions for practitioners to meet authentic Dharma and genuine masters.
Our main centre is located in Grabnik village, 40 km west of Warsaw. Currently there are over 10 people permanently living and working at the Centre. Several practitioners are in individual short and long term retreats. There are also local Benchen centres and groups of practitioners in over ten towns in Poland.
We regularly organise Dharma teachings, meditation practices and studies of classic texts led by Polish and Tibetan lamas. Resident Polish Lama Rinchen as well as other lamas living in or visiting the Centre offer instructions for practice, empowerments and advice.
A vast library collection is available here. One can also purchase books, texts and other materials for Buddhist practice. There are retreat facilities on the premises. The traditional three-year retreat centre, "Benchen Drubde Osal Ling in Poland", was launched in 2009. One can also complete an individual retreat in huts remote from the main building. The Buddhist Culture Centre, co-financed from European Union funds, was created here in 2010.
The Association is a founding member of the Polish Buddhist Union under the auspices of His Holiness Dalai Lama. It is a member of the European Buddhist Union since 2011
